Poszerzanie źródeł finansowania świadczy o większej kreatywności firmy w pozyskiwaniu kapitału. Prowadzi także do dywersyfikacji struktury kapitałowej, a tym samym wpływa na poziom ryzyka finansowego. W dobie wysokiej konkurencji istotnym jest osiąganie rentowności poprzez obniżkę kosztów prowadzonej działalności, w tym kosztów finansowych. Celem opracowania jest ocena, czy i jak poszerzanie źródeł kapitału wpływa na poziom kosztów finansowych MSP, odniesionych do przychodów ze sprzedaży oraz średniego stanu zobowiązań. Strategia poszerzania źródeł kapitału dla ograniczania kosztów finansowych została potwierdzona w grupie średnich firm. W małych firmach takie działanie prowadziło z kolei do korzystnych zmian w strukturze kosztów finansowych (zmniejszenie udziału kosztów odsetkowych).

Identification of new funding resources is a proof of company’s creativity in finding new capital. It leads to diversification of the capital structure and affects the rate of financial risk. In times of intense competitiveness one of the most critical ways of increasing company’s profitability is cutting down on the cost of business activities, including its financial outlays. The aim of the paper is assessment whether and how extension of capital resource base affects the financial costs level in SMEs, related to sale revenues and average liabilities. The strategy of expanding sources of capital to reduce financial costs has been confirmed in the group of medium-sized companies. Beside, in small companies, such activity leads to beneficial changes in the structure of financial costs (reduction the share of interest costs).
