The topic of the article is the way of presenting relations with Poles in The Confession by the famous 19-th century revolutionist and anarchist M. Bakunin (as we know, the work originated as a «political confession» addressed to Nicholas I). At the beginning, the descriptions of the Polish emigrants (especially Lelewel, Czartoryski, Biernacki, Mickiewicz) are quite general, but sincere. However, when describing current revolutionary events Bakunin starts to put emphasis on stereotypical — negative — ideas about Poles, which aims at showing the lack of possibility of a Polish-Russian cooperation on a political level. The deliberate choice of such a strategy allowed the author of The Confession to conduct a kind of game with Nicholas I.

Tematem artykułu jest sposób przedstawienia relacji z Polakami w Spowiedzi znanego dziewiętnastowiecznego rewolucjonisty i anarchisty — Michała Bakunina (jak wiadomo, utwór powstawał jako «spowiedź polityczna» adresowana do Mikołaja I). Początkowo charakterystyki polskich emigrantów (przede wszystkim Lelewela, Czartoryskiego, Biernackiego, Mickiewicza) są ogólnikowe, ale szczere. Jednakże opisując bieżące wydarzenia rewolucyjne Bakunin zaczyna akcentować stereotypowe — negatywne — cechy Polaków, co ma podkreślić niemożność współpracy polsko-rosyjskiej na niwie politycznej. Ta świadomie wybrana strategia pozwoliła autorowi Spowiedzi prowadzić swoistą grę z Mikołajem I.
