Ataki terrorystyczne na Stany Zjednoczone w dniu 11 września 2001 roku były bezprecedensowe zarówno w swojej skali, jak i konsekwencji na arenie międzynarodowej, ale również w USA. W kontekście międzynarodowym, ataki spowodowały rozpoczęcie wojny z terroryzmem, co doprowadziło do osłabienia pozycji USA w świecie. Wpływ ataków terrorystycznych z dnia 11 września 2001 roku na społeczeństwo amerykańskie jest często mniej widoczny aniżeli reperkusje globalne. Celem rozważań jest przedstawienie i analiza skutków ataku na społeczeństwo amerykańskie, a w szczególności na ludność arabską i muzułmańską mieszkającą w USA. Implikacje te były (i do pewnego stopnia nadal są) dla tej mniejszości negatywne zarówno na poziomie społecznym, jak i legislacyjnym. Poczynając od wzmożonych aktów dyskryminacji rasowej, zabójstw na tle rasowym, utraty funduszy przez organizacje arabsko-muzułmańskie, ale również osłabienie ich pozycji w próbach działania na rzecz zaprzestania stronniczej polityki USA wobec konfliktu izraelsko-palestyńskiego. Poniższa analiza systemowa wykazuje również pewne pozytywne konsekwencje ataków terrorystycznych w stosunku do Arabów i muzuł-manów w społeczeństwie amerykańskim. Najistotniejszą z nich jest zwrócenie uwagi na tę mniejszość. Dostrzeżenie tej diaspory może zaowocować w konsekwencji bardziej zauważalną i docenianą ich rolą w amerykańskim tyglu kulturowo-społecznym. Artykuł ma charakter badawczy.

Terrorist attacks on the United States on 11 September 2001 were unprecedented ones both in their scale and in consequence in the international arena, but also in the USA. In the international context, the attacks have caused initiation of war against terrorism, what has led to weakening the US position in the world. Impact of the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 on the American society is often less apparent than the global repercussions. An aim of considerations is to present and analyse the consequences of attacks for the American society and, in particular, to the Arab and Muslim populations living in the USA. These implications were (and to a certain degree have still been) negative for that minority both at the social and legislative levels. Starting from intensified acts of racial discrimination, racial killing, loss of funds by Arab and Muslim organisations, but also weakening of their position in attempts to act in favour of discontinuance of the prejudiced policy of the USA in the face of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The presented system analysis also indicates some positive consequences of terrorist attacks towards Arabs and Muslims in the American society. The most important of them is paying attention to this minority. Perceiving this diaspora may yield in effect with more noticeable and appreciated their role in the American social and cultural pot. The article is of the research nature.
