The author's main interest is focused on the blogosphere, which provides a platform for a wide range of texts and forms of expression. They include literature proper and a great variety of critical commentaries, from autobiographical reflection (in the form of a diary-made-public) to comments and opinions embracing hearsay, infrequently written in fiercely polemical tones. Those who venture into the blogosphere must be prepared for reactions of cultural hostility. The new loneliness may result from the blogger's desire or the feeling of rejection and alienation. At the same time one's online presence may create a sense of commitment, with all its favourable connotations, especially if the point of it lies in some kind of quest (discovering one's own potential, demonstrating one's writing skills, manifesting one's faith in beauty and literature, or inventing stories just for fun). The reader becomes then the subject (agent) of hitherto unrealized modes of existence: some cases which illustrate this process are examined in detail.

The article is a prelude to a depend consideration about the role and significance of blogs for political communication in Poland. The starting point question was: what are the real, not declared (proclaimed), functions of politicians’ blogs? Conducted empirical survey indicated that political blogs are (most often) the instruments of creating political image. It seems that politicians are not deeply interested in blogging, and they decide themselves to run a blog just because image reasons. They do not tend to satisfy their communication or contact needs that way. Therefore it is quite hard to claim that politicians’ blogs initiate some essential changes for political communication in Poland in 21th century.

When in the late 1990s the WWW entered Polish homes, role-playing games had already gathered many followers. The new medium became a perfect way to publish RPG materials. At first the popularizing function belonged to small RPG fan-clubs or author-run, enthusiast-made Internet websites. In time, this role was taken over by more or less professional thematic vortals, which also constructed a certain kind of identity of role-playing gamers in our country. Are we witnessing a new transformation today? The blogs are slowly ceasing to be associated with exhibitionist recordings of intimate experiences, and they are assuming an opinion-formative and socio-creative role. In the area of RPG, one may also observe the growing popularity of thematic blogs which realize the same goals as the aforementioned vortals. Thanks to blog websites, like Blogspot or Wordpress, making one's own blog has become easy for every user of the Internet. In these circumstances, does the burgeoning blogosphere have a chance to exert a more effective influence on the constituting of Polish RPG players' identities, as is the case in the West? Can it replace thematic portals?
