The article deals with the relationship between a neuro administrative device and personal autonomy. As a rule, neuro administrative devices are supposed to endanger personal autonomy. We indicate three functions of neuro administrative devices as related to personal autonomy. We argue that the automatization function of neuro administrative devices does not necessarily endanger personal autonomy. The predictive function might be a threat to personal autonomy due to the reduction of the effectivity of the neuro administrative device. And so is also the informative function due to its limitation of personal autonomy by specifically endangering the subject´s privacy.

The present study examined the possible influence of visual quality judgment on quantity judgments of numbers. To address this issue, volunteer adult subjects performed a mental number comparison task. Stimuli (Arabic number format), among the numbers between 31 and 99 were mentally compared to a memorized reference number, 65. The level of difficulty of the stimuli was controlled by two parameters: visual quality and semantic distance from the reference number. Two methods were chosen to specify the spatial brain patterns and temporal brain dynamics. The methods discussed are principal components analysis (PCA) and independent component analysis (ICA). We suggest that visual attributes of the stimulus facilitate/inhibit the number perception. In this unique approach, the mixed model of topographic map represents visual and number perception together.

Are emotions capable of influencing our thinking? Where is their source? Those are the questions that are subject of a scientific research in the present paper, which has, as its aim, an interdisciplinary analysis of emotional states related to cognitive processes. The newest neuroscientific discoveries supply a lot of interesting information with regard to the human brain and central nervous system and their relationship with the higher mental functions like planning or knowledge. This research points out to a reciprocal influence between emotional states and cognitive processes, which is a step forward in the mind-body problem discussion.

Neuromarketing is a relatively new domain of applied marketing research that studies the cognitive and affective reactions of consumers to marketing stimuli. It covers the overlap between neuroscience and research into consumer behavior, as well as advertising, marketing, and product design. Researchers make use of new technologies such as functional magnetic resonance imaging. In this article the author presents some basic information about the human brain and the new forms of neuroimaging technology available. Further on he analyzes three examples of neuromarketing research. Finally, the author comments on the ethical questions and the real contemporary significance of neuromarketing research.

This paper shows that there is a quantum-physical and evolution-biological perspective for (libertarian) free will, and that the so-called scientific arguments against it are in reality metaphysical arguments and insufficient. The paper also develops the idea of a nonphysical organ of higher organisms: the Domindar (Detector of macroscopic in determination, and restrictor).

In the article I compare the psycho-physical dualism of Nicolas Malebranche and Henri Bergson. The study of these two systems is important because Bergson is often critical of modern theories claiming a parallelism of soul and body. Malebranche bases his system on the category of space, while Bergson rejects the spatial view of reality and bases his conception on the notion of duration. On the one hand, Bergson criticizes the Cartesian dualistic conception. Yet, on the other hand, he builds his system in reference to modern solutions. The comparison of these two significantly different conceptions gives a more profound understanding of the problem of psycho-physical dualism. Furthermore, it makes possible a better appreciation of the innovative character of Bergson’s proposal. I consider the relation between mind and brain by means of an analysis of sensation because in both theories it is here that soul and body meet.
