There is a group of neurons in the monkey brain, which is active during both the perception and execution of certain movements. This is called the mirrorneuron system. This function exists in humans too. Mirrorneurons are mainly located in the Broca area of the human brain, so it seems reasonable that it is linked to speech, or even its evolution. There has been many trials to prove this idea. The goal of the paper is to review how the mirrorneuron system works, how it appears in humans, and what possible role it could have in language use, and the evolution of language.
