Prognozowanie punktów zwrotnych procesu urodzeń

Celem artykułu jest wyodrębnienie wahań cyklicznych poprzez wskazanie punktów zwrotnych oraz wyznaczenie prognoz występowania punktów zwrotnych zmiennych demograficznych charakteryzujących proces urodzeń w Polsce. Wykorzystano dane dla 18 zmiennych z dwóch przedziałów czasowych: (1) lat 1951-2006 oraz (2) lat 1951- 2010. Punkty zwrotne jako cechy morfologiczne wahań cyklicznych identyfikowano korzystając ze zmodyfikowanej metody harwardzkiej. Metoda pozwala na dekompozycję szeregu i interpretowanie wahań w kategoriach odchyleń od trendu (cykl odchyleń). Wyznaczając prognozy występowania punktów zwrotnych posłużono się koncepcją zmiennych wyprzedzających i naśladujących. Ustalono zbiór zmiennych wyprzedzających dla zmiennej referencyjnej (liczba urodzeń) o długim i krótkim okresie wyprzedzenia. Wskazano daty występowania przyszłych punktów zwrotnych liczby urodzeń w Polsce.

The article sets out to define cyclical fluctuations by identifying turning points and forecasting them in demographic indicators that characterise the birth process in Poland. Data for 18 indicators for two time periods were used: (1) the years 1951- 2006, and (2) the years 1951-2010. Turning points as morphological features of cyclical fluctuations were identified by using a modified Harvard Method. This allows a series to be decomposed and fluctuations to be interpreted as trend deviations (a deviation cycle). In order to forecast the occurrence of turning points, the concepts of lagging and leading indicators were used. A set of leading indicators for the reference indicator (the number of births) with a long and a short leading period was determined. The dates of future occurrence of turning points in the number of births in Poland were forecast.
