The article deals with the history of the third order of St. Francis in the Mistek deanery. The Mistek deanery was founded on 15th March 1716. In the second half of 19th century the Mistek deanery comprised sixteen parishes (Mistek, Brusperk, Celadna, Frycovice, Frydlant, Metylovice, Moravska Ostrava, Hrabova, Ostravice, Palkovice, Paskov, Stara Bela, Stara Ves, Staric, Vitkovice and Zabreh). In 1883 the chaplain P. Ferdinand Winkler established the third order of St. Francis in the parish of Mistek. P. Ignac Janak (1862-1932) helped to spread the third order. He was born on 26th September 1862 in Lazniky. In 1885 he was ordained. From 1902 he functioned as a parish priest in Frydlant. He initiated the first local congress of tertiaries in Frydlant in 1903. The next congresses took place in Mistek (1904, 1908) and in Frydlant (1906). In 1914 P. Ignac Janak became a dean in Mistek. In 1916 he became a parish priest in Horni Mostenice. In 1923 he was appointed to a canon of the chapter in Olomouc. He published many articles about the third order. He died on 14th June 1932 in Olomouc.
