The subject of camps is an important part of the Russian and Polish history, which specifically and significantly established characteristic traits of social psychology. A rich camp material based on convicts’ memories was initiated in the past century. A growing interest in labor camps in the contemporary literature makes it possible to recognize such writers as Varlam Shalamov, Aleksander Solzhenitsyn, Evgenya Ginzburg, Larysa Geniush, Anatol Krakowiecki, Vasili Grossman, Sofia Nalkowska, Gustaw Herling-Grudzinski and Tadeusz Borowski.
