The translation of the Bible is a very important but until quite recently a neglected phenomenon in the Czech cultural history. The Czech humanities (classical philology, studies of Czech language, Bible studies) devoted very little attention particularly to modern translations. The present article focuses on the results of the Czech biblical translation from the beginning of the 20th century till the present time. It presents a survey of all translations of the whole Bible and of the Old/New Testament, that appeared in the period under investigation, and the circumstances of its genesis, as well as the profiles of the translators; it also gives account of more important editions.
