Ekonomia społeczna to działalność gospodarcza, która w pierwszej kolejności stawia sobie cele społeczne, a ekonomiczne jako drugie. Cele społeczne to głównie przeciwdziałanie wykluczeniu społecznemu, łagodzenie bezrobocia, czy też walka z różnego rodzaju patologiami. Tym celom służą między innymi przedsiębiorstwa społeczne. Przedmiotem rozważań w niniejszym artykule jest przedstawienie istoty ekonomii społecznej, idei powoływania przedsiębiorstw społecznych, a także zilustrowania problemu wynikami badań, zarówno dotyczącymi opinii społecznej mieszkańców analizowanej gminy, jak i samych pracowników funkcjonujących konkretnych przedsiębiorstw społecznych.

Social economy is an economic activity that sets itself social (I) and economic (II) goals. Social goals mainly include counteracting social exclusion, mitigating unemployment or combating various pathologies. Social enterprises, among others, serve these purposes. The subject of reflection in this article is the presentation of the essence of the social economy, the idea of establishing social enterprises, as well as illustrating the problem of research results both concerning the social opinion of the inhabitants in the analyzed commune, as well as the employees of specific social enterprises.
