Ratyfikacja Konwencji Organizacji Narodów Zjednoczonych o Prawach Osób Niepełnosprawnych jest dla Polski ważnym wydarzeniem. Dokument normuje standardy dotyczące praw niepełnosprawnych. Posiada wymiar symboliczny, będąc swoistą konstytucją praw osób z dysfunkcjami, uznaną przez szereg państw. Ma również do spełnienia rolę w zakresie promocji informacji o uprawnieniach niepełnosprawnych. Niezwykle istotna dla oceny oddziaływania Konwencji będzie praktyka organów administracji publicznej i sądów, ale także pracodawców, mediów i całego społeczeństwa.

Significance of ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is a landmark for Poland. The document regulates standards concerning rights of persons with disabilities. It has a symbolic dimension, being a specific constitution of rights of persons with dysfunctions, accepted by many countries. It also has a role to play in promoting information about the rights of the disabled. A practice of public authorities and courts, but also employers, the media and the whole society will be extremely significant for the assessment of the impact of the Convention.
