Wzrost zainteresowania nadzorem korporacyjnym jest rezultatem postępujących procesów globalizacji, a tym samym narastania zależności międzynarodowych. Inwestorzy poszukują różnych źródeł w poszukiwaniu miejsca dla swojego kapitału, konkurencja uzyskuje wymiar globalny, te wszystkie aspekty wymagają wzajemnego zaufania do poszczególnych systemów zarządzania w tym celu w wielu spółkach zaczęto ujednolicać reguły działania, a tym samym spółki stały się odpowiedzialne za całokształt swojej działalności. Społeczna odpowiedzialność biznesu stała się, zatem koncepcją istotną dla wszystkich podmiotów funkcjonujących na rynku. Dobrowolność jej stosowania spowodowała, iż wiele przedsiębiorstw zmieniło taktykę swojego zarządzania i relacje z otoczeniem. Nadzór korporacyjny jest domeną działania społecznej odpowiedzialności biznesu, zasady dobrych praktyk pozytywnie wpłynęły na osiągnięcia przedsiębiorstw wdrażających te zasady.

A growing interest in corporate governance is a result of the advancing process of globalization, as well as of the increase of the international dependencies. Investors are looking for different sources to place their capital, competition acquires the global dimensions. All those aspects require mutual trust to the individual management systems. For this purpose many companies begin to harmonize their rules of operation, and thus the companies become responsible for the whole of its business. A corporate social responsibility has become, therefore, an important concept for all entities operating on the market. A voluntary nature of its use, for many companies, had resulted in changes of their tactics and relations with the business environment. Corporate governance is the domain of corporate social responsibility, and its principles of good practice had a positive impact on the performance of companies implementing them.
