W artykule postawiono tezę, że współcześni twórcy miewają deficyty pozaartystyczne, co skutkuje problemami z odnalezieniem się na rynku. Zniwelować to zjawisko może uczenie artystów design management na poziomie akademickim. Opracowanie podzielono na części teoretyczną i praktyczną. W pierwszej części teoretycznej opisano przyczynę zajęcia się problematyką i istotę design management, sektora kreatywnego, współczesnego twórcy-artysty i jego warsztatu. Część praktyczna artykułu ma na celu przedstawienie wyników badań obserwacji uczestniczącej współczesnego twórcy, która była prowadzona w latach 2007-2016. Analiza przypadku dotyczy rzeźbiarza funkcjonującego na rynku polskim.

In the article there was a thesis that modern artist tend to have non-artistic deficits, resulting in problems in finding a market, can overcome this phenomenon artists teaching at the university level design management. The study was divided into theoretical and practical parts. In the first part the theoretical description of the cause of the problem and the essence of design management, the creative sector, the contemporary artist-creator and his workshop are described. The practical part of the article aims at presenting the results of participant observations of a contemporary artist, which was conducted in the years 2002-2017. The case analysis concerns a sculptor operating on the Polish market. An integral part of the article is a summary.
