W artykule scharakteryzowano ryzyko kredytowe banku na tle innych rodzajów ryzyka oraz przepisów Nowej Umowy Kapitałowej - systemu uregulowań stworzonego przez Komitet Bazylejski w celu ochrony stabilności systemu bankowego. Opisano zewnętrzne i wewnętrzne przyczyny występowania ryzyka kredytowego, sklasyfikowano ryzyko oraz omówiono wybrane aspekty zarządzania ryzykiem.

In this paper has been described the bank's credit risk relative to other types of risks and the provisions of Basel II - a regulatory system created by the Basel Committee in order to protect the stability of the banking system. There have been also determined the external and internal causes of the credit risk, as well the risk has been classified and there have been discussed some aspects of risk management.
