The Poznan scientists, faculty members and librarians boast many years of experience in the field of digital library implementation and management. The 'Wielkopolska Biblioteka Cyfrowa' - WBC (Wielkopolska Digital Library) has been attracting considerable attention since its establishment, proven not only by the number of its webpage downloads but also numerous requests, remarks and questions on WBC digitized objects incoming from the whole world. WBC holdings include a rich collection of serials, books and coursebooks along with early prints and manuscripts. Readers from anywhere in the world may freely access resources provided by various institutions gathered around the idea which may have once sounded highly futuristic. WBC leaders are: Kórnik Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Adam Mickiewicz University Library and Poznan State Archives. Although the development of WBC suffers from the obstacles of legal and financial nature, the skills and enthusiasm of its staff make it a perfect signpost for Poznan city and the region on the map of digital libraries.
