The article is focused on processes of marrriages breakdown and social attitudes to divorce in Poland. The main aim of this article was to identify detreminants and diversification of divorces in Poland. It was made an attempt to verify a hipothesis that divorces as well as attitudes toward divorce are variously determined by milieu, economic, demographic, and social factors. The research was carried on with the aid of multivariate statistical analysis and it was based mainly on the data of the Polish Central Statistical Office and two public opinion polls: Polish General Social Survey (PGSS) and International Population Policy Acceptance Survey (IPPAS, PPA2). The results obtained indicated a significant divergence between Poles’ attitudes and their bahaviours. Despite of pro-family declarations and common criticism of divorces, the country experienced a rapid increase of divorce rates. Practical implementation of cluster analysis revealed the intense spatial differentiation of marriage breakdown processes in Poland resulting from different levels of socio-economic modernisation level in the regions.

Marital and parental love, as significant values both for particular individuals and for the whole society, require special protection. It is ensured by moral norms, and especially by: premarital chastity, marital fidelity, indissolubility of marriage, and parental responsibility connected with opposition to abortion and contraception. In numerous studies devoted to the attitudes towards marital-familial morality it turns out, however, that a considerable part of the respondents do not accept these norms. This is significant information for pastoral theologians, educationalists, family life counselors and pastors, because the efficiency of the efforts they make requires a diagnosis of the reality they encounter. And the diagnosis, as appears from the empirical research, should incline one not only to make careful educational, but also prophylactic, preventive and re-educational efforts.

The crisis, a word that is inflicted today through all cases, affects families in Poland as well. Against a background of a family it is often spoken about economic crisis. Symptoms of the crisis can be seen in relationships created within the family. What can often be found on the list of symptoms are the crisis of fatherhood, weakening of bonds, the loss of authority and educational problems in many families. Some see signs of the crisis in the loss of multigenerational family, in the change of relations between parents and children and in other cultural changes that the family is inevitably subjected to. From a sociological perspective the article tries to show the number of divorces and birthrate as phenomena which indicate the crisis affecting Polish families. The scale of the observed phenomena can be a clear sign speaking about changes.

The aim of this article is to acquaint the readers with the conception of economy in the Canons of the Eastern Tradition. First of all the concept of akribeia (canonical accuracy, the summary of the Eastern Tradition) is briefly clarified, from which economy is a release. It is an exception of the rules. The article concentrates on canonical economy. Even though economy is not defined, its usage is governed by certain rules. The common principle for the usage of economy and akribeia was set by the 88th Canon of the Council in Trullo and it is redemption and salvation. There were some thoughts about establishing the common principle of economy also for the Eastern Catholic Churches when the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches (CCEO) was being prepared, but in the end this was unsuccessful. Further on the article deals with the application of economy in marriage (civil marriage, marriage between relatives), especially in the relation with divorces and second and third marriages. Economy is and was exercised not only in the cases of adultery (Mt 19,9), but also because of other reasons (e.g. murder and elopement). At the end of the article the author presents some Catholic authors, who tried to bring the usage of economy into the Catholic practice.
