The history of film poster in Poland – one of the most interesting phenomena in Polish art of the second half of the twnetieth century, so far has not been properly documented and described. The reviewed book approaches to fill this gap and be the first comprehensive „outline of the history of film posters in Poland”. More than 500 color posters reproductions are valuable part of the book (although the selection criteria raise concerns). Unfortunately, the vast number of factual errors and the lack of sceintific apparaturs, disqualifies the book as a source of reliable information. The paradox of this book is that the most glorious period of the reviewed subject – decades between the 1940s and 1960s, has been treated casually, unlike other, not so developed periods. The author does not explain what was the specificity and strenghth of the Polish „school” of the film poster. There is no information regarding the reception of posters (e.g. international awards) and the comparison between polish art of that time and the global tendencies.
