W opracowaniu przedstawiono rezultaty estymacji, których przedmiotem stało się zapotrzebowanie na pieniądz służący jako środek wymiany w wysoko rozwiniętych systemach ekonomicznych. Badanie zależności opisujących popyt na pieniądz przeprowadzono na podstawie materiału źródłowego dotyczącego Australii, Japonii, Stanów Zjednoczonych oraz Wielkiej Brytanii. Badanie obejmowało lata 1973-2002 w przekroju kwartalnym. Wykorzystano wektorowe modele korekty błędów (VECM).

The main purpose of this paper was to estimate the transaction money demand functions in developed economies. The Vector Autoregressive Error Correction (VECM) models were used. The results make it possible to state that the demand for money as a medium of exchange was determined by the real Gross Domestic Product and nominal interest rate in Australia, Japan, USA and UK. The obtained money demand functions were generally stable over the studied period.(original abstract)
