W prezentowanym opracowaniu podjęto rozważania dotyczące identyfikacji najważniejszych determinant zmian struktury konsumpcji w krajach Unii Europejskiej wraz z próbą określenia kierunków zmian w tym zakresie. Wskazano najważniejsze uwarunkowania i przesłanki dla możliwej konwergencji struktur konsumpcji, wyodrębniono grupy krajów podobnych pod względem struktury spożycia oraz dokonano oceny zmian struktur konsumpcji w badanych krajach Unii Europejskiej pod kątem nowoczesności.

In the present study the identification of the most important determinants of changes in the structure of consumption in the EU countries, together with an attempt to determine the directions of change that structure was undertaken. The study presents the main reasons for the possible convergence of consumption patterns and assesses changes in consumption patterns in the countries surveyed in terms of modernity.
