Proces unowocześniania konsumpcji oznacza trwałe ulepszanie oraz uwspółcześnianie spożycia we wszystkich możliwych wymiarach. Obejmuje wartościowe, ilościowe i jakościowe zmiany w konsumpcji artykułów żywnościowych, nieżywnościowych oraz usług, a także inne od dotychczasowych czy tradycyjnych sposoby zaspokajania potrzeb oraz zaspokajanie potrzeb nowych, wcześniej nieistniejących. Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie zmian w konsumpcji gospodarstw domowych w zależności od typu biologicznego gospodarstwa i miejsca zamieszkania w kontekście unowocześniania spożycia. Zakres podmiotowy badań stanowią polskie gospodarstwa domowe. Zakres czasowy obejmuje lata 2006-2013. Materiał badawczy stanowiły dane wtórne pochodzące z badań budżetów gospodarstw domowych. W badaniach zastosowano metodę analizy opisowej z elementami analizy ilościowej.

A process of modernising consumption means some permanent improvement and contemporisation of consumption in its all possible dimensions. This involves value, quantity and quality related changes in consumption of food and non-food products along with services. Moreover, traditional methods of satisfying needs or methods that are different than those in use at present, along with satisfying new needs that have been non-existent so far, are elements of the process in question. This article aims at presenting changes in consumption of households in Poland depending on the biological type of household and the place of residence in the context of modernising consumption. The research subject scope covers Polish households. The time span refers to 2006-2013. The research material stems from secondary data provided by household budget survey. The research employs a descriptive analysis method supported by some elements of a quantitative analysis.
