In the text, the author demonstrated that regardless of the prevailing regime, the State, by relying on separate laws for people with disabilities (or any other minority group), has created and continues to create colonies of sorts. In the first part of the article, the author presented the difference between postcolonialism and neo-colonialism in relation to people with disabilities and in Disability Studies. Afterward, he highlighted the illusory nature of research and, above all, educational activities in favor of people with disabilities. He argues that in the case of this group of people, we are dealing with neo-colonial pedagogy rather than a postcolonial one.

Artykuł prezentuje naukowe ujęcia polskich badaczy zjawiska niepełnosprawności w perspektywie historycznej i współczesnych interdyscyplinarnych opracowań teoretyczno-empirycznych. Humanistyczne i społeczne rozpatrywanie fenomenu niepełnosprawności tworzy nową, interdyscyplinarną przestrzeń poznawczą. Badacze coraz wyraźniej akcentują mocne strony, możliwości i siły rozwojowe osób z ograniczoną sprawnością. Z tej perspektywy niepełnosprawność nie jest postrzegana wyłącznie jako problem jednostkowy. Uwidacznia się potrzeba podejmowania pogłębionych i wielowymiarowych rozpoznań empirycznych uwzględniających społeczny, kulturowy oraz polityczny kontekst funkcjonowania osób z niepełnosprawnością. Artykuł ukazuje osiągnięcia polskich badaczy, wpisujące się w nurt z drugiej połowy XX w. – Disability Studies. Autorki prowadzą analizy przeglądowe w zakresie paradygmatów niepełnosprawności, ukazania pozytywistycznej i humanistycznej orientacji badawczej, pluralizmu metodologicznego oraz interdyscyplinarnego ujęcia fenomenu niepełnosprawności.

The article presents Polish researchers’ scientific approaches to the phenomenon of disability in a historical perspective and in view of modern interdisciplinary theoretical and empirical studies. Humanistic and social approaches to disability create a new, interdisciplinary cognitive space. Researchers highlight the strengths, potential and developmental power of people with disabilities more and more clearly. From this perspective, disability is not perceived as an individual problem only. It is becoming apparent that it is necessary to carry out detailed and multidimensional empirical investigations that take into consideration the social, cultural and political context of how people with disabilities live. The article looks at Polish researchers’ achievements that fit in with the trend dating from the second half of the 20th century – Disability Studies. The authors review and analyze paradigms of disability to show positivist and humanistic research orientations, methodological pluralism and an interdisciplinary approach to the phenomenon of disability.

The article presents the new course offered by the Maria Grzegorzewska University – Interdisciplinary Disability Studies – against the Polish higher education system with special emphasis on issues relating to the historical and modern organization of teacher training for special educators. The Interdisciplinary Disability Studies course is a unique program in Poland that is based on a new, positive and multifaceted approach to and understanding of disability. The authors analyze the legal foundations of the new program, explain the need to open the program, describe the graduate’s profile and refer to the curriculum. They describe the history of Polish special education: from the beginning of systemic teacher training for special educators through Maria Grzegorzewska’s activities to modern times. They show the place of Interdisciplinary Disability Studies in Polish special education and in worldwide Disability Studies in that context.

Artykuł prezentuje nowy, prowadzony w Akademii Pedagogiki Specjalnej kierunek kształcenia – Interdyscyplinarne Studia nad Niepełnosprawnością, na tle polskiego systemu szkolnictwa wyższego, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zagadnień związanych z historyczną i współczesną organizacją procesu kształcenia pedagogów specjalnych. Interdyscyplinarne Studia nad Niepełnosprawnością są unikalnym w Polsce kierunkiem kształcenia, skonstruowanym wokół nowego, pozytywnego, wieloaspektowego ujmowania i rozumienia fenomenu niepełnosprawności. Autorki analizują podstawy prawne powołania nowego kierunku, wyjaśniają potrzebę jego stworzenia, przywołują sylwetkę absolwenta, odwołują się do programu kształcenia. Jednocześnie opisują historię polskiej pedagogiki specjalnej, od początków organizacji systemowego kształcenia pedagogów specjalnych, poprzez działalność Marii Grzegorzewskiej aż po czasy współczesne. Na tym tle wskazują na miejsce Interdyscyplinarnych Studiów nad Niepełnosprawnością w polskiej pedagogice specjalnej oraz ogólnoświatowym nurcie Disability Studies.

The paper outlines socio-historical factors that led to the emergence of a new trend in doing research on disability issue – Disability Studies and the dissemination of a social definition of disability, on which the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is based. The main part of the text provides a critical analysis of the implementation process of article 24 CRPD at Polish universities with regard to relevant regulatory acts and using reasonable accommodations. Next, statistical data on students and PhD candidates with disabilities are presented. The main conclusions from thematic reports by the Polish Commissioner for Human Rights and by the disabled persons organizations are also presented. In the last part, the disability issue is discussed in the context of creating the Law on Higher Education 2.0 with the case study of amendment no. 47.

W artykule zarysowano społeczno-historyczne uwarunkowania, które doprowadziły do powstania i rozkwitu nowego nurtu badań nad niepełnosprawnością – Disability Studies oraz popularyzacji społecznej definicji niepełnosprawności, na której opiera się KPON. Główną część tekstu poświęcono krytycznej analizie wdrażania art. 24 KPON w polskich szkołach wyższych z perspektywy obowiązujących aktów prawnych oraz stosowania mechanizmu racjonalnych usprawnień. Przedstawiono dane statystyczne na temat studentów i doktorantów z niepełnosprawnościami oraz zaprezentowano główne wnioski z raportów tematycznych, autorstwa Rzecznika Praw Obywatelskich oraz środowisk osób z niepełnosprawnościami. W ostatniej części artykułu omówiono wątek niepełnosprawności w świetle procesu tworzenia Ustawy 2.0 wraz ze studium przypadku poprawki nr 47.

Each day, the Google search engine is used to perform millions of searches by users around the world looking for relevant information. A lesser known service by Google is Google Trends, which allows to examine the popularity of certain keywords, or more precisely - shows trends at a specific time and in a specific area regarding the given word. The article presents various methods in which Google Trends can be incorporated to study the phenomenon of disability by researchers, including sociologists, psychologists, special education workers or welfare politicians. These methods do not only concern observing trends, but also studying the cyclical nature of phenomena, contexts in which specific concepts appear, and changes in the language that describes various disabilities.

Codziennie wyszukiwarka Google jest wykorzystywana miliony razy przez użytkowników Internetu na całym świecie do poszukiwania potrzebnych im informacji. Mniej znana jest darmowa usługa firmy Google pod nazwą Google Trends, która pozwala na zbadanie popularności słów kluczowych (haseł, fraz), a ściślej – pokazuje trendy w określonym czasie oraz na określonym obszarze. W artykule zostały przedstawione różne sposoby wykorzystania Google Trends przez naukowców badających zjawisko niepełnosprawności, m.in. socjologów, psychologów, pedagogów specjalnych czy polityków społecznych. Sposoby te związane są nie tylko z obserwacją trendów, ale też badaniem cykliczności zjawisk, kontekstów, w jakich pojawiają się określone pojęcia oraz zmian w języku, którym opisuje się niepełnosprawność.
