Współcześnie konieczność ochrony środowiska wynika z wiedzy o niekorzystnych skutkach intensywnego rozwoju gospodarki. Postęp techniczny, mający charakter ciągłej rewolucji przemysłowej, prowadzi do rosnącej nieprzerwanie konsumpcji surowców. Konsekwencją tego jest zanieczyszczenie terenów, wód gruntowych i powierzchniowych, zanik wielu gatunków fauny i flory na znacznych obszarach. Usuwanie i zapobieganie szkodom ekologicznym oraz koszty tych działań stały się problemami, z którymi stykają się zarówno przedsiębiorcy, jak i organy administracji. W artykule podjęto próbę oceny działań władz samorządowych gminy X związanych z jej rozwojem i ich wpływem na stan środowiska naturalnego. Do realizacji przyjętego celu artykułu zastosowano metodę analizy i krytyki piśmiennictwa z badaniem dokumentów źródłowych oraz metody badań sondażowych z zastosowaniem techniki ankietowej i wywiadu.

Today, the need for environmental consciousness results from the adverse effects of intensive economic development. Technical progress combined with the continuous nature of the industrial revolution leads to a continuously increasing consumption of raw materials. The consequences of this procedure is pollution of land, groundwater and surface water, disappearance of many species of flora and fauna over large areas. Removal and prevention of environmental damage and the costs of these actions are problems faced by both business and the administration. This article attempts to evaluate the actions of local authorities community X related to its development and its impact on the environment. For the attainment of the purpose of this article a method of analysis and critique of the literature, the examination of source documents, and a survey method using questionnaire and interview techniques are used.
