Artykuł odnosi się do problematyki wypłaty dywidend przez spółki, których jednym z akcjonariuszy jest Skarb Państwa i które jednocześnie są komponentami indeksu WIG20. Opisano w nim problematykę konfliktu interesów, w którym z jednej strony akcjonariusz – Skarb Państwa – jest zainteresowany uzyskaniem wysokiej dywidendy celem sfinansowania potrzeb budżetu państwa, a z drugiej strony spółka ma istotne potrzeby inwestycyjne. Celem badań jest ukazanie specyfiki polityki dywidend spółek z udziałem Skarbu Państwa w odniesieniu do polityki spółek publicznych pozostających poza bezpośrednim wpływem Skarbu Państwa. Wyniki badań wskazują na wyższą skłonność spółek Skarbu Państwa do wypłaty dywidend oraz zależność wypłat od bieżącej sytuacji budżetu.

This paper is devoted to issues connected with the dividend payout by companies where one of the shareholders is the State Treasury and which are simultaneously components of the WIG20 index. It describes the topic of the conflict of interest, where on one hand the shareholder – the State Treasury – is interested in obtaining a high dividend in order to finance the needs of the state budget, and on the other – the company has considerable investment needs. The objective of the study is to demonstrate the specificity of the dividend policy in companies with the participation of the State Treasury in comparison to public companies which are beyond the direct influence of the State Treasury. The study results point out to the fact that state-owned companies are more inclined to pay out dividends and the dividend payouts depend on the current budget situation.
