Celem niniejszego artykułu jest pokazanie i podkreślenie wybranych tendencji rozwojowych obszarów zurbanizowanych ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem rozwoju przestrzennego. Istotnym elementem jest także uwypuklenie prawdopodobnych konsekwencji przestrzennego rozlewania się rozwoju miast dla potencjału społecznego, gospodarczego, środowiskowego oraz kulturowego tych układów w Polsce. Chociaż artykuł ma charakter teoretyczny, jest próbą odpowiedzi na pytania dotyczące przyczyn amorficznego rozrostu miast, jak również wpływu tego zjawiska na potencjał ośrodków zurbanizowanych. Artykuł dotyczy zjawiska, jakim jest rozlewanie lub przenoszenie się rozwoju ośrodków metropolitalnych z miasta-rdzenia do otoczenia ośrodka metropolitalnego. W niniejszym artykule zostanie podjęta próba zebrania i przeanalizowania wiedzy na temat tego zjawiska, które należy uznać za niedostatecznie zbadane w kontekście polskiej sieci osadniczej ze względu na niewielką ilość analiz w tym zakresie.

The objective of this article is to show and underline a few trends in developments of urban areas, with particular emphasis on spatial development. An important element is the to underline of the likely consequences of spatial sprawl of the cities for the potential social, economic, environmental and cultural heritage of these systems in Poland. Although the article is theoretical, is an attempt to answer questions about the causes of amorphous sprawl, as well as the area of the impact of this phenomenon on the potential of urban centers. Article refers to a phenomenon that is racking or moving to metropolitan development, with the city-core to the surrounding metropolitan center. In this article there will made an attempt to collect and analyze knowledge about this phenomenon, which should be considered relatively new in the context of Polish settlement network due to the small amount of research in this area.
