Jacek Bombor’s publication is the outline of the history of Dziennik Zachodni, the newspaper which has been publishing for the last 67 years. The author associates the start of this newspaper with the history of the pre-war newspaper Polonia, by the by, the author analyses the interwar Silesian publishing market and the political involvement between these two titles. This work presents the recitation of editions of the post-war period, the ways of organization of the titles, the backroom of the work and the most important editors–in–chief. The author analyses the process of changing the ownership since 1945 to 1990 (against the history of the regional newspapers during the People’s Republic of Poland period), the changing of the ownership after 1990 until contemporary times. There is the outline of the situation of the Polish media according to the German publishers’ expansion.

Opracowanie stanowi zarys historii „Dziennika Zachodniego”, wydawanego od 67 lat. Autor łączy początki gazety z historią przedwojennej „Polonii”, przy okazji analizując śląski rynek prasowy okresu międzywojennego i powiązania polityczne pomiędzy tytułami. Praca przedstawia wyliczenia nakładów gazety w latach powojennych, sposoby organizacji tytułu, poznajemy kulisy pracy i postaci najważniejszych naczelnych tytułu. Poznajemy proces zmian własnościowych od 1945 roku do roku 2012 (na tle historii prasy regionalnej PRL) i kulisy zmian własnościowych tytułu po 1990 roku aż do czasów współczesnych i sytuację polskich mediów w związku z ekspansją niemieckich wydawnictw
