The modern health care system requires continuous improvement of processes affecting the availability, efficiency and quality of health services. Making changes in traditional systems of servicing patients and supporting every activities and processes taking place in medical facilities is particularly important. The determinant of the development of modern health care system is the continuous improvement of processes affecting the availability, efficiency and quality of health services. Undoubtedly, information and communication technologies (ICTs) can contribute to the changes in the health sector. Their inclusion in health care is the basis for the development of e-health. The area of activity which is e-health is a broad implementation of ICT innovation to the health care system and individual medical facilities. The implementation of this process in practice is very complex. The aim of the article is assessing the state of e-health and development barriers from the perspective of stakeholder groups that are family doctors and specialists. To realize this purpose, the example of Podlaskie Voivodeship was used.
The article undertakes the problem of a marketing scope of e-health, combined with the use of ICT in the health care system. The study focuses on the needs of patients - the main consumers of medical services. The purpose of the article is to identify marketing barriers to e-health services from the perspective of patients and the medical community. To analyze the problem an example of the Podlaskie Province was used.
ICT (Information and Communication Technology) may be powerful source of the innovation in health care in many areas, but change of the model of care delivery and of the relations between participants of the health care market is the most visible trace. The access to relevant information became a prerequisite to patient empowerment in his or her relation with health care professionals. Nowadays, the patient is expected to take active role in care processes and abandon the attitude of a passive recipient of medical services. There are also many challenges for health care professionals. Apart from the requirement of partnership relations with patients, health care professionals are obliged to follow evidence-based guidelines in their practice. The quality assurance strategies became inherent element of clinical activities. E-health environment brings a set of tools which can support all players active in health care domain in smooth adoption of new policies and requirements. The paper focuses on the issues of enhancement of access to health-related information by patients and health care professionals, medical information management and patient safety achieved with e-health technologies. A new model of health care delivery, especially for chronic care, based on the intensive use of e-health systems is proposed.
The importance of up-to-date information-communication technologies in the economic and social life has been growing in the recent years. Internet creates new opportunities for providing services and meeting needs. The newest results of research surveys of the quantitative and qualitative nature on the use of e-services by consumers in such countries as Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine are presented in the article. The results of surveys may serve as a source of information on consumers’ behaviour to form their marketing strategies. The researches were carried out for the purposes of the project carried out by the Institute for Market, Consumption and Business Cycles Research in Warsaw (Poland). The grant-funded project is carried out by an international team.
