The paper represents a letter addressed to the editors and readers of the Ethnological Accounts. The author, a former member of a Slovak folklore group, has lived and worked in Great Britain for last five years. The contribution presents his subjective description of the significance and functions of free-time activities oriented to the folklore and folklore's presentation in everyday life of individuals and small Slovak communities temporarily living abroad.
