Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie działań instytucji Unii Europejskiej w zakresie zwalczania przestępczości zorganizowanej. Przestępczość destrukcyjnie wpływa na poczucie bezpieczeństwa społeczeństwa całej Unii Europejskiej oraz na podstawy ekonomiczne. Walka ze zjawiskiem doskonale wykorzystującym osiągnięcia współczesnej technologii oraz swobody demokratyczne dzisiejszej Europy wymaga szerokiej współpracy i wymiany informacji pomiędzy organami państw członkowskich. Służyć temu celowi mają instytucje przedstawione w artykule oraz przepisy prawne wprowadzane w drugiej połowie XX wieku oraz obecnie. Na tym obszarze pojawiają się różnorakie problemy wynikające z różnic w prawodawstwie poszczególnych państw, mentalności oraz naturalnej niechęci do dzielenia się informacjami szczególnie tymi uzyskanymi w wyniku pracy operacyjnej. Przełamanie tych ograniczeń może przynieść pozytywne skutki w walce z przestępczością zorganizowana w zjednoczonej Europie.

The aim of the paper is to show actions performed by European Union in terms of fighting an organized crime. Crime destructively influences the complacency of EU society and economic framework. Fighting the phenomenon, which indefectibly employs advances of modern technology and democratic freedoms of nowadays Europe, requires a broad cooperation and an exchange of information between member states. To serve this purposethere were created institutions presented in the paper and legal regulations were implemented in the second half of 20th century and nowadays. In this area, there are various problems arising from the differences in national legislation, mentality, and, what limits the exchange of information most, the unwillingness to share their own knowledge. Breaking these limits can have positive effects in the fight against organized crime in a united Europe.
