The process of improvement of an organisation can employ various tools (e.g. benchmarking, the con¬cept of kaizen, the EFQM model). Evaluation is one of these tools. The purpose of this article is to identify the role of evaluation, and the need for it, in the process of im¬provement of an organisation. The author also presents her own model of organisation improvement with the use of evaluation (evaluation hybrid model). This model assumes that the evaluation process should be carried out in three dimensions: activities, results and competences. In the evaluation hybrid model there are four phases: conceptualisation, generating results, the assessment of the criterion, the use and dissemination of research results, on the basis of which it is possible to formulate normative (assessment of the actions that have been evaluated) and prospective (recommendations follow-up) judgments.
