The article discusses main features of the expert systems, their elements, and categorization, based on research literature. An expert system structure is presented, referring to the Polish legal systems, as well as knowledge representation and acquisition.
The aim of this paper is to justify thesis about strong relationship between the knowledge management (KM) and knowledge engineering (KE) as well as expert systems. Knowledge engineering and expert systems can be an integral part of knowledge management, providing methodologies and tools supporting some KM processes.
