“Le Persone disabili nell’economia della salvezza di Dio” è uno studio dedicato alla ricerca inerente il posto e il ruolo delle persone con varie disfunzioni nella e per la comunità ecclesiale. Il punto di riferimento risiede nei presupposti fondamentali dell’antropologia e della pedagogia cristiana. Nell’articolo è stato fatto il tentativo di approfondire teologicamente la risposta a tre domande: Chi è la persona disabile per la Chiesa? Che cosa la Chiesa può offrire a una tale persona? Che cosa la persona disabile può donare alla Chiesa? La ragione e il significato di questa riflessione fondata sulla Sacra Scrittura e sui risultati del pensiero critico e teologico derivano da una inclinazione sociale ancora attuale a trattare le persone malate come passive, quasi “inutili”. Proprio questo contesto stimola noi stessi e gli altri a ripensare, in prospettiva cristologica ed ecclesiologica, questo stato di cose. Anzi, la credibilità della Chiesa si fa più esplicita nella misura in cui essa si apre e tratta seriamente la questione della disabilità umana, dimostrando di vivere secondo lo spirito del Vangelo.

“Disabled persons in God’s economy of salvation” – is a paper devoted to the role and the place of people with various disabilities in the community of the Church. The starting point for this reflection lies in the fundamental assumptions of Christian anthropology and pedagogy. An attempt has been made to answer three principal questions: Who is a disabled person to the Church? What can the Church offer to such a person? What can a disabled person give to the Church? The validity of these reflections, based on biblical and theological sources, results from the apparent passivity of those persons in the Church and emerges from the need to trigger Christological and ecclesial motivation and inspiration, in oneself and in others, to change this situation. An openness to the problem of disability increases the reliability of the Church, since it proves that the spirit of the Gospel is put into effect.
