W artykule postawiona została teza, że upowszechnianie się elastycznego czasu pracy w Polsce jest rezultatem wzrostu poziomu niepewności w gospodarowaniu związanego z takimi procesami jak: globalizacja, ekspansja małych i średnich firm, serwicyzacja, wdrażanie nowych technologii wykorzystujących najnowszą wiedzę czy poszerzanie szarej strefy. Jednocześnie zatrudnienia nie stabilizują ograniczające swoją interwencję w warunkach dużego bezrobocia państwo oraz słabnące związki zawodowe. Niesie to rozległe, również niekorzystne, skutki społeczne, jak pojawienie się klasy prekariuszy oraz zachwianie równowagi między pracą a życiem pozazawodowym. Stąd, w końcowej części artykułu, postawiony jest problem sposobów regulacji czasu pracy przez państwo.

The main purpose of this article is to present the basic causes of flexible working time that is being used more and more commonly in Poland. The sources of this phenomenon are indicated, e.g. globalization, the development of small and medium sized companies, servitization, the spread of the grey economy and the expansion of the knowledge based economy, which is all associated with the restriction of the state’s role in the conditions of high unemployment and the weakening of trade unions. This brings significant social consequences such as the rise of the precariat, a disturbance in worklife balance and the worsening position of discriminated groups, including women. At the same time, however, from an economic perspective, flexibility in management should favour economic growth. Hence, in conclusion, the question of the level of state intervention in the sphere of working time regulations is considered.
