Proces rozwoju współczesnych przedsiębiorstw jest warunkowany wieloma czynnikami, zarówno o charakterze wewnętrznym, jak i wynikających z otoczenia, w którym podmiot funkcjonuje. Jednym z czynników kształtujących sprawność organizacji, które funkcjonują w niepewnym i złożonym otoczeniu, są pracownicy, którzy powinni posiadać określone kompetencje, wiedzę teoretyczną, umiejętności praktyczne oraz wyznawać wartości, które w organizacji są uważane za istotne. Powszechnie wiadomo, że jakość kapitału ludzkiego, jak również umiejętne zarządzanie tym kapitałem stanowią w dzisiejszych czasach główny obszar budowania pozycji rynkowej przedsiębiorstw. Niniejsze opracowanie stanowi próbę oceny roli czynnika ludzkiego w rozwoju współczesnych firm sektora MŚP. Przeprowadzone analizy wskazują na bardzo dużą rolę czynnika ludzkiego w rozwoju małych i średnich firm na rynku. Przedsiębiorcy reprezentujący badane podmioty doceniają wagę tego czynnika i szacują, że w kolejnych latach kapitał ludzki będzie odgrywał jeszcze większą rolę w rozwoju ich firm.

The process of development of contemporary enterprises is conditioned by many factors, both interior as well as resulting from the environment in which the entity operates. One of the factors influencing the efficiency of organizations that operate in an uncertain and complex environment are human resources which should have certain competencies, theoretical knowledge, practical skills and adhere to organization’s values which are considered to be important. It is well known that quality of human capital, as well as skilful management of this capital is nowadays the main area of building market position of contemporary enterprises. This paper is an attempt to assess the importance of human factor in development of SME sector companies. The carried out analyses indicate the great importance of human factor in development of small and medium-sized firms on the market. Entrepreneurs representing the surveyed entities value the importance of this factor and estimate that in the coming years human resources will play even greater role in the development of their companies.

Defi ning innovation remains problematic as it is associated with such notions as creativity or change. Some economists link innovation with any change, though a majority of analysts and practitioners look for innovation which signifi cantly and substantially aff ects their activities, for inventions, and the like. Th ey tend to dismiss innovations that arise by accident. Fundamental reasons for an enterprise to implement innovation include the desire to improve profi ts (80%) and business development (68.3%) while operating in a sector which, according to respondents, does not need innovation is the main reason for not introducing innovation (41% of all those examined).(original abstract)

Przedstawiono wyniki analizy przeprowadzonej w Zakładzie Badań Statystyczno-Ekonomicznych GUS i PAN na temat przedsiębiorstw rozwijających się w latach 1995-2000. Przyjęto, że przedsiębiorstwo rozwijające się to takie, które w 2000 r. miało większe zatrudnienie niż w wyjściowym 1995 r. Prześledzono losy przedsiębiorstw zaliczonych do sekcji Przetwórstwo przemysłowe, Budownictwo, Handel hurtowy i detaliczny.

The presented study notes that in the period of ongoing globalization, it is necessary to look at the new rules of building competitiveness for the enterprises. Consequently, it is reasonable to present the basic assumptions of the overall international competitiveness paradigm adapted to the challenges of modern knowledge-based economy. In this study, the author undertook a critical analysis of five models of international competitiveness and attempted to identify the basics upon which, any organization wanting to meet the demands of the changing global environment, should be based on. In the paper is to draw the attention on the necessity of deepening analysis of new factors which are dedicated to assess competitiveness of modern business systems. The organizations implementing such a business model are determined to hold leading positions in the global system, because due to the use of the multidimensional potential of capital they are capable of continuous creation of added value. According to the author the concept of creating added value with the use of CSR is very important and it requires dissemination. (original abstract)

W artykule przedstawiono transakcje konsolidacyjne przedsięwzięć inwestycyjnych w postaci ich fuzji i przejęć. Opisano istotę procesów fuzji i przejęć, będących efektem wyboru ścieżki wzrostu zewnętrznego przez przedsiębiorstwa. Wskazano również, na zasadnicze motywy podejmowania tych przedsięwzięć w kontekście ich wpływu na rozwój, kształtowanie długookresowej efektywności oraz wzrost wartości przedsiębiorstw. Celem artykułu było również przedstawienie głównych kierunków rozwoju fuzji i przejęć w Polsce, jak również barier utrudniających dokonywanie tego rodzaju transakcji. (abstrakt oryginalny)

In the article the consolidated transactions of investments in the form of mergers and acquisitions were presented. The essence of mergers and acquisition processes, which are the effect of the enterprise external growth path were described. The article also pointed out the basic reasons for forming mergers and acquisitions in the context of their influence on long-term effectiveness and the increase of the enterprises value. The aim of the article was also to present the main directions of mergers and acquisitions development in Poland, but also the barriers making this kind of transactions more difficult. According to the theory of economic growth, research and development activity is one of the main sources of growth. At the same time spending on research and development incurred by companies can be considered as a specific form of investment. The article presents an analysis of the basic features of investment in research and development activities conducted by companies. The Studies on Born Global Companies - a Review of Research Methods

Since the 1990s a dynamic stream of research in the field of born global companies (in short: BG) could be observed. Initially the main subject of this research were the establishing premises and foreign market strategies of BG, whereas at present the focus has shifted to the later stages of the born globals' development. The aim of this paper is the review of methods adopted in the international research on born globals as well as presenting the methodology used by the authors in the research of Polish BG. In international research the case study method, including the use of in-depth interviews, is widely used by many authors. This approach is sometimes joined with the application of quantitative methods. In the presented study the primary data has been obtained through individual interviews. Transcripts of the interviews have undergone a procedure of content analysis, within which a system of categories has been developed, allowing the assessment of the meaning and relationships between the particular concepts.

Celem artykułu jest analiza reputacji jako czynnika determinującego funkcjonowanie i rozwój przedsiębiorstw na rynku. Analizy dokonano na przykładzie przedsiębiorstw deweloperskich na rynku nieruchomości mieszkaniowych. Artykuł prezentuje aspekt teoretyczny pojęcia „reputacja”. Analizę źródeł wtórnych poparto wynikami badań empirycznych prowadzonych metodą panelu ekspertów. Wnioski płynące z analizy umożliwią określenie, jakie czynniki wpływają na funkcjonowanie przedsiębiorstw deweloperskich na rynku, jakie jest znaczenie reputacji oraz na jakie czynniki reputacja oddziałuje.

The purpose of this paper is to analyse the reputation as a factor determining the operation and development of the companies on the market. The analysis was made on the example of enterprise development in the housing market. The article presents the aspect of the theoretical concept of reputation. Analysis of secondary sources was based on the results of empirical research method of panel of experts. The conclusions of the analysis will determine what factors influence the functioning of the development companies on the market, what is the importance of reputation, and on what factors the reputation affect.

The general objective of this work is to present a framework for a diagnostic analysis of a company's development potential. The concept is discussed from the perspective of innovativeness which is presented as a component of a company's standard forms of development capability as well as an element of its knowledge potential. The problems of corporate development are viewed in economic, organizational, personal, information and technical and production dimensions. All these dimensions and their modifications and combinations constitute a platform of reference for the management systems and processes which have an impact on a company's operations and development. The paper focuses in the following issues: the concept and forms of a company's development potential, corporate development dimensions, the interpretation of innovativeness in the context of a company's development potential, and criteria for assessing development potential.
