The aim of the article is to analyze the extent, to which the participation of students in learning mobility projects on the example of the Erasmus+ programme influences the improvement of their individual skills desired from the perspective of the labour market. The text begins with an introduction that outlines the background to the considerations undertaken. Next, the historical context of learning mobility in Europe and the process of internationalization of universities are presented as one of the consequences of the globalizing labour market. In the following part of the article we characterized the best known European programme promoting academic mobility Erasmus+. The end of the article contains a review of the research on the competences of beneficiaries of learning mobility projects, supported by statistical data, and an attempt to draw a link between participation in student exchange and the chances of finding a satisfactory employment after graduation. The analysis shows that graduates with foreign mobility experience develop a number of characteristics and skills, that increase their employability and career opportunities.

The goal of this paper is to analyze the relationship between the communication competencies (in foreign languages) and the chosen phenomena of the mobile society. A number of social researchers claims, that the “mobility” becomes one of the crucial values of contemporary society and the communication in foreign languages is among the key (esential) competences of citizens. This applies also to higher education system – internationalization of universities, participation in educational exchange programmes. The article aims to discuss the meaning of communication competencies in foreign language as a challenge for international educational mobility of youth. The issue is analyzed on the basis of author’s pilot research into the educational mobility (Erasmus+ program) of university students of the Faculty of Educational Studies of Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań (N = 92). A following research thesis was put forward: the approach to foreing educational mobility will be ambivalent. The vast majority of respondents considered the participation in the class at a foreign language and improving the proficiency in foreign language as the advantages of the involvement in the Erasmus+ program. Simultaneously, the lack of foreign language ability to participate in learning process is perceived as the essential threat associated with the foreign mobility.

W artykule analizie poddano relacje między kompetencjami językowymi a wybranymi zjawiskami i procesami typowymi dla społeczeństwa mobilnego. Na podstawie diagnoz stawianych przez badaczy współczesnych społeczeństw i ich kultur można uznać, że mobilność stanowi jedną z podstawowych wartości, a kompetencje w zakresie porozumiewania się w językach obcych są jednymi z kluczowych dla osiągania dobrostanu obywateli. Dotyczy to także szkolnictwa wyższego, czego wyrazem jest wzrost internacjonalizacji, w tym zagranicznej mobilności edukacyjnej studentek i studentów. Celem tekstu jest analiza znaczenia kompetencji w zakresie komunikowania się w językach obcych jako potencjalnego wyzwania dla mobilności edukacyjnej. Empiryczną egzemplifikację stanowią tu rezultaty badań pilotażowych (N = 92) nad postawami młodzieży akademickiej wobec uczestnictwa (wymiany studenckiej) w programie Erasmus+. Badania przeprowadzono w 2017 roku na Wydziale Studiów Edukacyjnych UAM w Poznaniu. Postawiono w nich tezę o ambiwalencji w ustosunkowaniu do zagranicznej mobilności edukacyjnej. Uczestnictwo w zajęciach w języku obcym oraz polepszenie jego znajomości są przez zdecydowaną większość badanych postrzegane jako korzyści z uczestnictwa w programie Erasmus+. Jednocześnie brak kompetencji językowych do uczestnictwa w zajęciach jest uznawany za istotne zagrożenie związane z mobilnością zagraniczną.
