Artykuł ma na celu zaprezentowanie historii rozwoju doradztwa finansowego oraz podejmowanych działań ustawodawczych, przy pomocy organizacji pozarządowych w Stanach Zjednoczonych i Wielkiej Brytanii. Skupiono się na istocie znaczenia regulacji zawodu doradcy finansowego, przedstawiając jak ewoluował z doradcy inwestycyjnego oraz jak kształtowały go i zmieniały kolejne akty prawne. Ponadto pokazuje, jak ważnym elementem jest usystematyzowanie prawne zawodu doradcy, które zapobiega fałszywemu postrzeganiu zawodu przez potencjalnych klientów. Pokazuje istotę zaufania jako podstawę relacji doradcy z klientem. Artykuł opisuje najważniejsze organizacje wspierające i działające na rynku doradztwa, wskazując jaki wpływ wywierają na rozwój tej profesji. Opisany został rynek amerykański i brytyjski - ich struktura, ilość działających doradców, a także ich wpływ na ilość inwestowanych kapitałów.

The aim of the article is to present the history of development of financial advising and actions taken by legislators, with the help of non – govermental organization in the United States and the United Kingdom. It focuses on the essence of the regulation of the profession of financial advisor, showing how it evolved from an investment advisor, as well as how it was shaped and changed by subsequent legal acts and organisations. Moreover, it shows how important it is to systematize the legal profession of an adviser, which prevents potential clients from misconceiving the profession. It shows the essence of trust as the basis of the advaisors relationship with the client. The article descirbes the most important organisations supporting and operating on the advisory market, indicating their impast on the development of this occupation. It also describes the American and British markets – their structure, the number of avisors and the influence on the amount of invested capital.
