"Life of Gregory of Sanok", archbishop of Lviv, written by Callimachus (Filippo Buonaccorsi) has a deeply parenetical character. The historiographer described the archbishop Gregory as a man living the humanitas in its fullness. Humanitas was followed by two other virtues: liberalitas (freedom) and dignitas (dignity). The bishop was an extraordinary type of person, truly gifted with bright mind and impeccable morale. His humanitas was also proved in his attitude to culture. Author of the Life presented the bishop as someone who kept constantly studying and reading, collecting books and writing texts, being a patron of artists as well as a minister of faith who took care of highest standards at education in his diocese.
