The article discusses the advantages of selected professional groups in Poland. As shown, contrary to popular belief this is not a group of miners are the most privileged. Other professionals often have more of the other non-wage benefits. It should be noted that the privilege of working in the mining industry are centuries-old traditions, but much of other professional groups acquired them in recent decades. Nowadays, many of these do not exist and those which remain are nothing unusual against the privileges of other professional groups.

Dąbrowa Górnicza leży we wschodniej części Górnośląskiego Zagłębia Węglowego. Wydarzenia polityczne zadecydowały, że od 1815 roku znajdowała się ona w Królestwie Polskim połączonym unią personalną z Cesarstwem Rosyjskim. Na terenie samej osady odkryto złoża węgla kamiennego. W związku z tym powstały tutaj w I połowie XIX wieku kopalnie i powiązane z nimi huty cynku oraz żelaza. Do pracy w Dąbrowie Górniczej przybywało wielu ludzi. Wśród nich znalazł się także Karol Adamiecki senior – ojciec Karola Adamieckiego, późniejszego twórcy nauki organizacji pracy. Karol Adamiecki senior rozpoczął swoją karierę od praktyki górniczej, a zakończył na stanowisku inżyniera. Karol Adamiecki junior wzrastał w otoczeniu przemysłowego krajobrazu oraz wśród inteligencji technicznej, co z pewnością miało wpływ na jego późniejsze życie, a w szczególności prace wynalazcze.

Dąbrowa Górnicza is located in the eastern part of Upper Silesian Coal Basin. Political events decided that 1815 Kingdom of Polish was combined by personal union with the Russian Empire. In Dąbrowa Górnicza were discovered deposits of coal. Therefore, there were e in the mid-nineteenth century mines and associated iron and zinc smelter. Many people were coming to work to Dąbrowa Górnicza. Among these was Charles Adamiecki senior − father Charles Adamiecki − later founder of the learning organization. Charles Adamiecki senior started his career from the free practice of mining and ended as an engineer. Charles Adamiecki junior grew in an environment of industrial landscape and among the technical intelligence, which certainly had an effect on his later life, and in particular, the work of inventive.

W artykule omówiono przywileje związane z zatrudnieniem w górnictwie w okresie PRL-u. Górnictwo to zawód ciężki, niebezpieczny dla życia i zdrowia, stawiający szczególne wymogi fizyczne i psychiczne organizmowi ludzkiemu. Z tego powodu przemysł górniczy jako pierwszy otoczył szczególną opieką swoich pracowników. Przywileje socjalne miały na celu łagodzenie skutków losowych ciężkiej i niebezpiecznej pracy pod ziemią. W górnictwie, wcześniej niż system wprowadzony przez Bismarcka, rozwinęły się również obligatoryjne ubezpieczenia społeczne. W okresie PRL-u przywileje te zostały szczególnie rozbudowane. Jednak ich proweniencja sięga znacznie odleglejszych lat.

The article discusses the privileges associated with mining employment during the People’s Republic of Poland. Mining is a hard profession, dangerous to life and health, placing particular physical and mental requirements on the human body. For this reason, he was the first to give special attention to his employees. Social privileges were intended to mitigate the effects of heavy and dangerous underground work. In mining, compulsory social security has also developed in advance of Bismarck’s system. In the period of the People’s Republic of Poland, these privileges were particularly extended. However, their origins go back much farther.

W pracy przedstawiono wielokryterialny model wielkości zamówień materiałów używanych w produkcji. Pokazano na przykładzie zastosowanie modelu dla wyznaczenia wielkości zamówień na klej poliuretanowy, drewno kopalniane oraz stojaki stalowe cierne w jednej z kopalń węgla kamiennego.

This paper presents a multi-criteria model of order size of materials used in production. It is shown on an example how to use the model to determine the order sizes for polyurethane adhesive, wood and steel upright in a hard-coal mine.

This article contains the analysis of employment structure in mining companies from 1994 to 2011. It also portrays the condition of polish mining restructuring process based on government programs, as well as the effects of conducted activities in relation to the regional labour market. Finally, the article shows the perspectives and intentions of the mining companies' management boards in the field of directing human resources.

The paper presents a facilitating procedure of the material planning requirements for a coal mining company. To determine the size of the materials are used the multicriteria model, the lexicographic goal programming and the maximin method. The main criteria in the site procedure are probabilities of covering the future demand for materials. The Application of the procedure is shown in the example of fixing a contract for mining wood, polyurethane adhesive, steel racks and smooth steel idlers.

W artykule omówiono świadczenia emerytalne związane z zatrudnieniem w górnictwie na ziemiach polskich. Górnicy, od zarania tego zawodu mając świadomość stale grożącego im niebezpieczeństwa, doprowadzili do solidarności nieistniejącej w innych branżach. Przejawem ten solidarności jest powstanie instytucji mających zapewnić środki na dalszą egzystencję również w czasie niezdolności do pracy z uwagi na wiek. Dlatego to właśnie w górnictwie najwcześniej rozwinęły się ubezpieczenia i to na nich wzorowano się, wprowadzając później ich powszechne, obligatoryjne formy.

The article discusses retirement benefits related to employment in the mining industry on Polish soil. The miners are constantly aware of the danger threatening them from the beginning of the occupation, led to solidarity does not exist in other industries. A manifestation of this solidarity is the creation of institutions that provide some means for the continued existence even during incapacity for work due to age. This is why in the mining industry at the earliest developed insurance and are the modeled itself after entering their widespread obligatory form.

In this article the presentation of the basic tools of accounting policy, allowing for better presentation the consumption of the fixed assets in the mining companies currently observed indicating the relationship between depreciation, the value of fixed assets and the cost of using them in the mining industry.

W artykule omówiono istotę społecznej odpowiedzialności biznesu (CSR) oraz stopień uczestnictwa w tej idei przedsiębiorstw górniczych. Przedstawiono metody, standardy i wytyczne w zakresie sposobów raportowania CSR, w tym m.in. GRI (Global Reporting Initiative). Dokonano oceny zaangażowania polskich spółek górniczych w raportowanie CSR. Analizę przeprowadzono na podstawie publikowanych raportów społecznej odpowiedzialności. Scharakteryzowano RESPECT Index stanowiący indeks spółek giełdowych odpowiedzialnych społecznie. Odniesiono się do najnowszej dyrektywy UE, która wprowadzi wkrótce obowiązek raportowania informacji niefinansowych przez duże przedsiębiorstwa.

The article discusses the essence of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the degree of participation mining companies in this idea. The methods, standards and guidelines of CSR reporting are presented, including GRI (Global Reporting Initiative). An assessment of the involvement of Polish mining companies in CSR reporting is made. Analyses are based on published reports of social responsibility. RESPECT Index as an index of socially responsible companies is presented. Also reference is made to the most recent EU Directive introducing soon an obligation to report non-financial information by large companies.

The paper presents an overview of methods used in solving Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) problems in the case of incomplete information about preferences among criteria, which are defined by explicit attributes of the problems. The paper presents the following methods: dominance, maxmin, maxmax, based on game theory, ELECTRE IV and parametric approach associated with Linear Partial Information and AHP. The presented methods focus on the problem of evaluation of investment projects in a hard coal mine.

The paper presents a a fuzzy pay-off method for the assessment of investment projects. This method allows the evaluation of investment project as an option kind. Use it independent of the three scenarios is an important element to take into account also the flexibility of decision-making. The examples presented applicable method for the evaluation of investment projects took place in the hard coal mines.

The article describes changes in vocational education of mining industry which came up in Upper Silesia Region in restructuring process of underground mining sector. The consequence of broadly planned employment reduction was generation gap and incapacitation to relieve qualified staff in underground coal mines. There were presented the results of self - created research conducted between students of Centrum Kształcenia Kadr Górnictwa. The results concerned student motivation to start school. The purpose of research was to discover answers to question what work and work - environment factors result in stimulating development of professional competences of workers employed in underground mining plants.

In the article discussed restructuring programmes of mining carried out in Poland and their influence on limiting an employment in the sector were discussed. None of them was fully carried out according to previous assumptions. Initial actions were characterised by failures, however after all one should assess the course of taken corrective actions positively. An employment in the industry was seriously limited what caused the distinctive improvement in its economic effectiveness.
