The article describes the genesis of the global economic crisis, which consequences are felt to this day. The article also contains a forecast of the crisis and its impact on the near future. Very interesting element is the incorporation of description of situation in Poland as one of the countries, where the crisis was not so severe.

The period of the latest crisis (2008-2009) aroused an increased interest of the economists and politicians in ethical issues. On the one hand, their attention was focused on questions of a marked lack of moral principles which is said to be an essential source of causes of the crisis. On the other hand, however, that situation gave rise to a real insight into questions of fundamental nature showing ethics as a bond in social life. The crisis that occurred at the beginning of the 21st century shows that the market enforced a correction of strategies and gave a poor mark to the system of functioning of consumerist societies that live beyond their means and yield to advertisements and marketing. The present crisis should force us to revise the prevailing paradigms, it should enforce new systemic and institutional solutions, but above all it should initiate an honest discussion on sustainable global development. A unique character of the observed phenomena (when it comes to the universality and simultaneousness of their occurrence) indicates that the world of business is going to face tremendous changes and the theory of economics will have to cope with new challenges. World market economy drammaticaly needs new ideas and a serious interest in processes that occur on the economic, political and social plane.

Intention of this article is to contribute to overcoming the simplifications about the character of ongoing global crisis. The author is arguing the consideration that it is qualitatively new process, which main causes are derived mainly from the fact that two crucial discrepancies of civilization came into critical magnitude. It is the contradiction between the economy and humans, let us say, between society and economy and natural environment, which are causing increasingly dire polarization of earnings and wealth, limiting global demand, building up abundant production capacities and constraining investments to the real economy. Growing surplus of capital can not find adequate space for gains in the real economy. On the example of data evaluation for US Economy the author documents long-term indefensibility of real demand substitution for virtual demand, generated by extreme expansion of financial sector and growing ruinous indebtedness. Logic of these processes had inevitably ended in crisis, solution of which requires systemic character.

The current global economic crisis is peculiar in many aspects. One of the key ones is the cumulating of more crisis phenomena at the same particular time (virtualization of the financial sector, polarization of wealth and poverty in society, immense increase of the moral gamble, but also unsustainable level of living standard, debt crisis, increase in arms expenses, wars, climate changes´ effects etc.). Both the theory and practice talk about globalization, however, in reality, both theory and practices remain bound to the national level. The ethical dimension, inhibition of corruption, removal of inefficiency in the public sector as well as new forms of regulations all create the necessary base for solutions to these problems.
