The article contains a short description of three chosen detectors. The following devices – the XP Deus, the Minelab Equinox 800, and the Garrett 400i used in the “Projekt Lednica – razem dla ratowania zabytków” (“Lednica Project – together to save the monuments”), are described. Innovative solutions and specific functions of the detectors, which allow for work optimisation in the changing terrain conditions, have been mentioned. The basic modules and available accessories have been described. In the second part of the article a short comparative test of the detection range in soil was conducted. The results have been presented in tables and graphs. They have been divided into two categories: detection range limit with the correct readout of digital identification; detection range limit without the possibility to confirm identification. In the summary of the results, the advantages and disadvantages of these detectors have been presented.
