Celem artykułu jest pokazanie zmian strategii rozwoju Unii Europejskiej na tle innowacji ekologicznych. W artykule zaprezentowano aspekt odpowiedzialności ekologicznej w działalności gospodarczej w kontekście teorii zrównoważonego rozwoju oraz gospodarki cyrkularnej w ramach wytycznych UE. Jednym z kluczowych działań umożliwiających realizację wspomnianych wytycznych jest aktywizacja innowacyjności ekologicznej. Widać to szczególnie w obszarze gospodarowania odpadami komunalnymi. W niniejszym artykule pokazano sposób postępowania z odpadami komunalnymi w krajach UE, w kontekście wytycznych unijnych regulujących ten obszar oraz w aspekcie poziomu innowacyjności tych krajów.

This article shows the importance of eco-innovation for the European Union development. Currently, increasingly take into account the aspect of environmental responsibility in business. This is a part of a wider strategy, which concerns the theories of sustainable development and the circular economy. This article describes these issues, pointing to the current documents functioning within the EU, which determine the directions of further economic development. One of the key actions in this area is activation of eco-innovation. This is particularly noticeably in the area of municipal waste management. This article shows the treatment of municipal waste in the EU in the context of the EU guidelines in this area, and levels of innovation development in the individual countries.
