The aim of the paper is to compare public satisfaction with healthcare systems in four types of European healthcare systems and test the hypothesis that healthcare satisfaction is partially a product of the factors outside the healthcare system. The structural equation model showed that the overall latent institutional satisfaction component was linked universally with healthcare satisfaction in all countries, regardless of the healthcare system. Moreover, the results demonstrated that latent components of satisfaction with different national institutions were one of the most powerful factors related to formation of satisfaction with the healthcare system. This can be taken into account in the healthcare system assessments in the future.

The study deals with the topic of evaluation and comparison of environmental efficiency and efficiency of health care systems in the V4 countries during the period from 2009 to 2017. The uniqueness of this study lies in the comparison of two different types of efficiencies and in the selection of the object of research. The aim of this paper was to examine the possible relationship between environmental and health efficiency in the V4 countries and to reveal the common determinants of these efficiencies. We implemented the method of two-step Data envelopment analysis, in which, we determined the values of input CCR and BCC health and environmental efficiency in the first step and then in the second step, we used the method of truncated regression to verify the effects of selected determinants of computed efficiencies in V4 countries. Based on these analyses, we found that although there is no significant relationship between the values of health efficiency and environmental efficiency, some determinants significantly affect both types of efficiencies.

The aim of this study is to describe how the work organization of midwives is related to their moral judgements concerning pregnant women. This analysis is based on material gathered during ethnographic research undertaken at a gynaecology and maternity ward at a hospital in Slovakia. The interpretations of the research findings are informed by the work of Mary Douglas and Moral Foundations Theory. Using the analytical tools of the grid-group, this article then shows that the working environment of midwives is a type of hierarchical group. Douglas predicted that such a type of social structure would be built on values such as subordination, respect for authority, and purity. An analysis of the material confirms this assertion: midwives’ narratives of pregnant women are in fact representations of moral values of authority and purity. Explicit statements of emotions of anger, contempt, disgust, and elevation serve as indicators of either the violation or observance of moral rules.

There are clear disparities between the health needs of residents and the financial sources of the public health system. The basic determinants of their formation is a development of health needs that is caused by age extension, increase in chronic diseases, as well as by increasing demands of the residents on healthcare services. The expenses related to the provision of healthcare may be increased by suitable implementation of e-Health project. The aim of this contribution is to evaluate the use of ICT in the health facilities in Slovakia as a basis of their effective strategic control. On the set platform we specified the disparities among the health facilities in the analysed region may be specified on the basis of the platform and also it is possible to determine the decisive determinants that influence their further development.

The author deals with organizational power structure. Research on organizational behaviour mainly tends to focus on companies and bureaucracy; other types of organizations get much less attention. One of the neglected topics is the sociology of organizations, which deals with the main differences in the organizational power structure of different kinds of organizations. For example: power structure of companies, bureaucracies for clients, and political bureaucracies, different sorts of supervisory authorities, hospitals, police departments, courts, prisons, prosecutor's offices, schools, etc. The previous article of the author ('Irresponsible organizations') dealt with special types of organizations and their power structures. This study analyses another type of organization - hospitals - and its specialities of power structure and power games. To understand their different power structures helps better understand how they function and behave and also their role in the inter-organizational power-networks and plays..
