The new aspects of functioning of the law of diminishing efficiency in agriculture is presented. It was shown that the law in question is connected with the hormetic effect understood as a positive impact of low dose of substances which used in higher doses serve as growth inhibitors. It was also shown that making use of this hormetic effect allows to reconcile efforts aimed at maximizing effectiveness and incomes in farming with the natural environment's protection.
