One of the research areas of historical geography (HG) is the research of pre-historic and historic lands-cape and its use. The method of profiles of cultural landscape layers makes it possible to monitor horizon-tal and vertical relations in the landscape which, along with the phenomenon of the social component of so called driving forces, determine the process of anthro-pogenic exploitation of the researched territory in the course of time. The article deals with the genesis of industrial landscape of Nováky which is reconstructed through profiles of cultural landscape layers. The applied method brings more complex historical geo-graphic knowledge of the aspects of chemical industry in the southern part of Prievidza basin.

The article aims at interpretation of cultural-philosophical tendencies related to the changes in the structures of experience of the (post)industrial landscape of Ostrava in the period 1989 – 2023. In the theoretical part, the notion of the “structure of experience” as a basic category of the contextual approach to culture is discussed, thus emphasising the historical and ideological conditionality of literature as a contemporary record of the lived experience of a particular community. It draws on a structural-analytic approach in which the structure of experience represents a complex arrangement of patterns, principles, and strategies that appear in various modifications as the predominant features of human thought and experience. The contextual analysis reflects on Ostrava’s (post)industrial landscape with regard to ongoing deindustrialisation and traces how global socio-economic transformations and changes in the dominant structures of experience (of postmodernism and meta-modernism) manifest themselves at the empirical and symbolic levels. Using selected examples of representatives of the older and younger generations of Ostrava poets who experienced/are experiencing the (post)industrial landscape at one time or another, it describes specific manifestations of postmodern and then meta-modern structures of experience.

For much of its modern history, the city Brno has been a significant industrial centre, yet it managed to hold on to its idiosyncratic cultural heritage, a combination rarely seen. In present day, this is evidenced by the reuse and repurposing of defunct industrial buildings and entire industrial sites with the cooperation of various local cultural institutions. The question is, what role do museums have to play in this revitalization of the city‘s heritage? In this paper, we discuss some of the projects that sparked the public‘s interest in the city‘s industrial history which, in turn, prompted city officials to take action to safeguard it. Terms like brownfields, textile plants, industrialists and others have now become staple in the scholarly and public debate surrounding the industrial sites in Brno and it our hope that the discussion will contribute to the preservation of Brno‘s glorious industrial past.
