The presented article discusses a question of obligations of a sub-ject’s manager imposed on him/her by regulations of an office instruc-tion. The authors of the article present the importance of the office regu-lations perceiving their historical role in formulation of the administra-tive structures. The office regulations constitute also nowadays an in-herent and significant element of functioning of the public administra-tion. An essential alteration of the office regulations performed on 20 January 2010 certifies this thesis. In the result of coming into force of the new office instruction, new obligations were imposed on managers of subjects. The authors make establishment of the meaning of the notion „a subject’s manager”. In further part of the article they carry out the analysis of particular regu-lations of the office instruction, from which result the determined duties of the subject’s manager. In the result of the research, two types of regulations were disclosed, the aim of which is adapting of the office procedures to the specificity of a given subject. The research also certified a new role attributed to the subject’s manager as the organisation’s manager.
