Kryzysy finansowe ostatnich lat przyczyniły się do wzrostu zainteresowania inwestycjami alternatywnymi, czyli takimi, które nie zaliczają się do tradycyjnych form inwestowania (np. inwestycje w dzieła sztuki, metale szlachetne, monety, alkohole). Koncepcja zrównoważonego rozwoju dotyczy również kwestii podejmowania decyzji inwestycyjnych. Powstaje zatem pytanie, czy inwestycje alternatywne są inwestycjami, które realizują założenia zrównoważonego rozwoju, zwłaszcza społecznej odpowiedzialności inwestycyjnej. Celem artykułu jest próba powiązania inwestycji alternatywnych z koncepcją zrównoważonego rozwoju. Inwestycje alternatywne nie zawsze są inwestycjami odpowiedzialnymi społecznie. Motywacją inwestorów realizujących ideę zrównoważonego rozwoju w inwestycjach jest nie tylko zysk ekonomiczny, ale również odpowiedzialność społeczna i ekologiczna. Jednak część inwestycji alternatywnych nie spełnia założeń wspomnianej koncepcji, ponieważ ich realizacja wiąże się z łamaniem zasad w obszarze społecznym, środowiskowym czy etycznym.

The financial crises of recent years have contributed to the increase in interest in alternative investments, i.e. those that do not belong to traditional forms of investment (art, precious metals, coins, alcohol). The concept of sustainable development also applies to the issue of making investment decisions. The question then arises whether alternative investments are investments that implement the assumptions of sustainable development, in particular social investment responsibility. The aim of the article is to try to connect alternative investments with the concept of sustainable development. Alternative investments aren’t always socially responsible investments. Motivation of investors implementing the idea of sustainable development in investments is not only economic profit, but also social and ecological responsibility. However, some of the alternative investments don’t meet the assumptions of the aforementioned concept, because their implementation is connected with breaking the rules in the social, environmental or ethical area.
