He is a relatively unknown figure and takes up little space in the latest historiography. This study is a continuation of research conducted by the author of this article on individual human fatest inscribed in the turbulent and tragic history of the 20th century. The hero of this text is one of many Polish clergymen who first became a soldier-chaplain of the resurgent Polish Army and then an acivist of the peasant movement. Although the chaplain belonged to the supporting actors of the military and later political scene, his contribution to Poland’s regaining independence was significant. The article in question shows remarkable determination, courage, devotion to the affairs of the country and the fight its independence against the criminal invader. It is highly probable that the priest-legionnaire died at the hands of the NKVD in Aprl 1940. As a military man, he joined the death lists from Katyn and the thousands of towns where the Soviets murdered the Polish nation. The article describes in a synthetic way the life of Poles under Soviet rule. Moreover in the aforementioned study, various were presented in connection with the death of Józef Panaś.

Artykuł ukazuje działalność Józefa Panasia – zasłużonego duszpasterza, odważnego legionisty i żołnierza, a także działacza ruchu ludowego w okresie Drugiej Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej.
