The linguistic play on words has a wide interpretation in the spirit of modern scholarly theories - as a specifically sought deviation from the linguistic standards for the sake of creating a given (most frequently comical) effect. In that sense, various manifestations of the nonstandard, creative and paronomasia use of linguistic means refer to the linguistic play on words. The actual significance of the topic is determined by the paramount role of journalese in the systems of Modern Russian. Journalistic style, as it is known, does not only reflect but also forms public opinion. It is precisely in journalese that is created the linguistic background, the linguistic image of contemporary reality. Journalese does not comply with all kinds of conventions. It is actually the bearer of the 'taste of time' with aspirations towards a fresh imagery, towards innovation and towards breaking off with the clichés of the past - with the trivial and sterile style of the language of newspapers of the previous years. A concrete analysis of some of the manifestations of the linguistic play in the journalistic style is presented. It deals with the basic and most typical type of linguistic play – the paronomasia, as well as with other types, productive in journalistic style. They are sufficiently 'representative' since they render the linguistic play at different levels (as far as such division is possible whatsoever). A more detailed analysis is focused precisely on those types of linguistic plays which are more actual at present for the journalistic style - paronomasia, quotation, metaphor, occasional units, the play with graphics.

The informatization of the communicative space has caused a significant transformation of the ontological foundations not only of the media discourse but also of social reality. The process of qualitative-quantitative changes in social communication under the influence of media has received its scientific description in the theory of mediatization. In modern scientific works on medialogy mediatization is considered to be one of the components of a paradigmatic shift in the field of communication research. In this article, special attention is paid to the problem of explaining mediatization as a socio-cultural phenomenon. The terminological boundaries of the concept of mediatization and the main approaches to the presentation of its socio-cultural and linguistic significance are described and outlined. The stylistic potential of mediatization is identified, which is associated with a rethinking of the concept of journalistic style in the context of extensive informatization of the communicative space. The heterogeneity of the media environment is also due to the heterogeneity (functional, thematic, and genre-stylistic) of media texts, which leads to the need to find new ways of linguistic understanding of the model of journalistic style. Within the framework of this article, three possible approaches to the interpretation of the journalistic style in the context of mediatization are described: through modification of the functional concept of style; in terms of the theory of media speech; within the context of media stylistics (Internet stylistics, multimedia stylistics). Special attention is paid to the linguistic understanding of the concept of media speech, which includes a wide variety of speech practices of modern media. Its communicative characteristics are identified to determine the outline of the journalistic style of the information age.

The aim of our research is to investigate their semantic adaptation within contemporary journalistic genres. The research sample is to be studied in the framework of the journalistic texts corpus from the database of the Slovak National Corpus utilizing the search tool Sketch Engine.

This article deals with the distinctive stylistic features in texts covering religious topics written in newspaper - journalism style - i.e. texts, which also represent religious style. The article examines how the exogenous styles specically affect these texts, and, within the given research environment, attempts to identify the patterns of rhetorical, educational and ofcial style, or also biblical style, even if this particular secondary style subordinated to the religious style is to be considered separately. The analysis evaluates individual exogenous stylistic features - from pathos to didactic expression and to distinct inter-textuality - and assesses the impact that such features may have on the strengthening or weakening of the journalistic functions of the examined texts.
