Der Artikel betrifft die Frage der Krise der gegenwärtigen Kultur. Die Verfasserin fragt, ob die Kultur heutzutage eine Krise erlebt, warum und was die Symptome der Krise sind. Sie sucht nach der Antwort im Kulturkonzept von Georg Steiner, der den Zerfall der gegenwärtigen Gesellschaft und den Zusammenbruch der traditionellen westlichen Werte feststellt. Seine Analysen betreffen hauptsächlich den Begriff der Postkultur, wie Steiner den Zustand gegenwärtigen Kultur bezeichnet. Im Artikel führt die Verfasserin unterschiedliche Formen dieser Krise vor und analysiert eingehend das Phänomen. Sie erläutert nach Steiner, dass sich der Zustand unserer Kultur vor allem in der Krise des Wortes äussert und das wir heutzutage unsere Herkunft vergessen, obwohl wir von der textuellen hellenisch-hebräischen Tradition gründlich geprägt wurden. Die Wissenschaft strebt heute eine Formalisierung der Geisteswissenschaften an und übergeht den wichtigsten Aspekt unserer Humanität ˗ das menschliche Bedürfnis nach Transzendenz, das gerade im Wort präsent ist.

The article deals with the crisis of contemporary culture. The author asks several important questions especially those that concern a condition of today's culture. Is it true that contemporary Western culture is in crisis, and if so, why? What are the symptoms of this crisis? The answer to these questions is sought in the concept of culture by George Steiner, whose research are an attempt to diagnose the disintegration of modern society and the collapse of traditional values of the West. According to Steiner, as the author of the text explains, this crisis manifests itself primarily in the crisis of “a word”. Although we have been “shaped” in the Hellenic-Hebrew tradition, which is, after all, textual, today we tend to forget about our origins. Moreover, the modern science seeks to formalize the humanities and omits the most important aspect of our humanity – the very human need for transcendence, which is present in a word. Today, deconstruction and adoration for emptiness prevails. That is why the condition of today's culture can be well defined by the concept of post-culture.

Artykuł dotyczy zagadnienia kryzysu kultury współczesnej. Autorka pyta, czy obecnie kultura znajduje się w kryzysie, a jeśli tak, to dlaczego. Jakie są symptomy tego kryzysu. Odpowiedzi szuka w koncepcji kultury George`a Steinera, który diagnozuje dziś rozpad współczesnego społeczeństwa i załamanie się tradycyjnych wartości Zachodu. Analizy dotyczą głównie pojęcia postkultury, ponieważ Steiner tak właśnie określa stan dzisiejszej kultury. W artykule autorka przybliża zatem i poddaje analizie różne formy tego kryzysu, tłumaczy, na czym polega ów fenomen. Wyjaśnia, za Steinerem, że stan naszej kultury objawia się przede wszystkim w kryzysie słowa, że choć zostaliśmy ukształtowani w na wskroś tekstowej tradycji helleńsko-hebrajskiej to dziś zapominamy o naszym pochodzeniu. Dzisiejsza nauka dąży do formalizacji humanistyki i pomija najważniejszy aspekt naszego człowieczeństwa – zapomina o ludzkiej potrzebie transcendencji, która to właśnie w słowie jest obecna.
