Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie handlu zagranicznego Polski z krajami BRICSMAT, zaliczanymi do gospodarek wschodzących, na tle Czech, Słowacji i Węgier oraz próba określenia ich znaczenia w wymianie handlowej państw Grupy Wyszehradzkiej zarówno w ujęciu geograficznym, jak i towarowym. Analizą objęto okres 2004-2013. W artykule określono miejsce krajów BRICSMAT we współczesnej gospodarce światowej i globalnym handlu. Następnie zaprezentowano znaczenie wymiany handlowej Polski i pozostałych państw Grupy Wyszehradzkiej z krajami BRICSMAT. W ostatniej części opracowania podjęto próbę oceny zmian struktury towarowej polskiego eksportu i importu z/do krajów BRICSMAT w porównaniu do pozostałych państw Grupy Wyszehradzkiej. W tym celu zastosowano taksonomiczne metody grupowania obiektów.

The purpose of the paper is to present the foreign trade of Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary with BRICSMAT countries during 2004-2013. This is also an attempt to determine their significance in the trade exchange of the Visegrad Group, both in the geographical as well as goods structure. In the article a place of BRICSMAT countries was determined in the contemporary world economy and in the global trade. Afterwards, the trade exchange of Poland and remaining states of the Visegrad Group with BRICSMAT countries was presented. At the end of the paper the changes of the Polish export and import structure with BRICSMAT countries was analyzed. The results were compared with Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary structure of trade. The taxonomical methods of grouping objects were applied to show the similarities in the trade structure.
